WIP Wednesday

I am working on my first knitted cowl for the TrueBlood KAL. The pattern is Noble Cowl on Ravelry. The yarn I am using is Yarn Bee Diva Sequin in the Scottish Heather colorway. I am doing the cowl on a size 8 circular.
And just a quick tip. Stitch Markers are your friend on this pattern!!!

It's FO Friday!

Here are a few of my recent FOs.

Kids Seamless Sweater. I decided not to do longer sleeves. This was fast and simple.


A knitted beanie. No pattern, just made up the color changes as I went along. It's not really that bright. Camera flash sucks sometimes.


Hubby got a Kindle for Christmas and needed a little something to help protect it from kids & scratches. I used a chart I found on Ravelry..however, I can't find the exact one again. The yarn is slightly fuzzy so it was hard to get a good pic.

TrueBlood Swap on Rav

I am participating in a swap on Ravelry in the TrueBlood group. I haven't received my package yet, but I thought I would show you some pictures of what I sent my spoilee.
Here is what she saw when she opened the box.
This is all the little goodies she got to open!
A note from me explaining what the theme of my package was: "Pick Me: Eric vs. Alcide" (she likes them both, so I had Eric & Alcide to kind of plead their cases to win her over...)
These are the goodies from Eric: bracelet, stitch markers, yarn, chocolate candle, do not disturb sign, washcloth & body wash. And a note from Pam to help convince her to pick Eric.
Here are the goodies from Alcide: a cowl, starburst, socks, hot chocolate, sewing tin, dishcloth, earrings, stitch markers, & vanilla candle.
She has a yorkie, so Sam Merlotte's threw in a new hand knit dog toy:

Tennessee/Halloween Beanie

I'm not great at writing patterns, but hopefully this will make sense. It's pretty basic, so here goes...

Size 8 circular and dpn's
Caron Simply Soft in orange, white, and black.

*Using black,CO 80 (adult) onto circular. Remember to place stitch marker to mark beginning stitch.
*K2, P2 ribbing for about an inch.
*K around for 5 rnds.
*Join Orange and K for 5 rnds.
*Join White and K for 5 rnds.
*Repeat black, orange, white again (5 rnds each color).
*Join Black and K until about 6.5 inches (hubby likes them a little longer)
Now I began my decreasing.
* (K2tog, K 8) around
* K around
* (K2tog, K 7) around
* K around
* (K2tog, K6) around
* K around
* (K2tog, K5) around

Swirl hat

Made this for Memphis. It's the Swirl hat and can be found on Ravelry. It looks like a swirl of bright pink strawberry ice-cream....

Bottle Coozie

Wanted to make another cozy & practice the duplicate stitch as well, so I did both.

Simple Mittens

Size 8 straight needles.
2 stitch markers, 1 stitch holder
Large blunt needle

I used Caron Rhapsody. I believe it is discontinued now, but my mother picked this up at the Dollar Tree a while back.
This was my first attempt at knitting mittens..and also writing down what I did. So, hopefully these notes make sense.

pm= place marker
sm=slip marker
Kfb= knit front & back (makes an increase)
K2tog= knit 2 stitches together (decrease)

C.O. 28
K (garter stitch) 8 rows
K1 row, P1 row (stockinette stitch)..repeat for 10 more rows.
K14, pm, k2, pm, k14

K14, sm, Kfb both stitches, sm, k14 (30sts)

Finishing:
Turn inside out, thread needle & sew up side of mitten. Weave in end.
Then, sew up side of thumb & make sure to secure it to the main part of the mitten between thumb and first finger. Weave in end.

Tennessee Volunteers Beanie

Hubby's new knitted Tennessee beanie. It's my first knitted beanie (that's not on a loom)...I think it turned out okay. The "T" puckered. Got to work on color changing that doesn't happen all the way around...if that makes sense. However, the tiny checkerboard pattern towards the top was a piece of cake! Loved doing that part. It's also a tad smaller than a normal sized adult beanies b/c my hubby has a bit smaller noggin.
He seems to like it, even with the obvious flaws that bug me. He is so sweet! lol
I'm sure I will be making 2-3 more for the kids soon. I'm already working on the next beanie though. It is black, white, and orange...kind of Tennessee/Halloween colors I guess.

Knitted cozy

I came up with this because I felt like knitting and wanted something easy.
It is Caron Rhapsody in an olive color. Size 8 bamboo straights. (I Didn't feel like working on dpns.)

C.O.36. And did a 3x3 rib for 3 rows. Then, I knitted each row until it was almost the size I wanted. I then did 3 rows of 3x3 rib again.
Next was a purl row and then the decreasing.
*k4, K2tog* rpt across.
*K Across
*k3, k2tog* rpt across
*k across
*k2, k2tog* rpt across
*k across
*k1, k2tog* rpt across
*k across
*k2tog* across.
Cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. Thread needle and then thread thru remaining loops on knitting needle. Pull tight and then work across the bottom and up the side sewing the two sides together. F.O. And weave in ends.
